YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch Highlighting Pen

Shade 2 - for pink undertones!

I have heard a lot good things about YSL Touche Éclat range and when I saw this on ebay for £9 including P+P, it seemed wrong not to get it! I have to admit I was a little skeptical whether it was the real thing or not, luckily it was! I don't really like ordering beauty products of ebay? Am I the only one?

Like all YSL products the packaging it is absolutely beautiful! The box it comes in is gold, as well as the highlighting pen itself, which just gives such a luxurious feel to it! Although, I will say it does get grubby finger prints on it pretty quickly which is a downer, but it is easily cleaned. Inside the box there are a set of instructions on how to use it and where to use it which is always helpful!

The product itself is incredible; I first tired this under my eyes and it instantly brightened and illuminated my under eye area and made me looked more awake. Great for those who stay up late, like myself! Although don't get this mixed up with a concealer because as it says it is a highlighter and it won't cover those really dark circles and pesky blemishes, sadly! Under eyes aside, it great to use on the cheek bones, brow bones, bridge of the nose, around the lips and the chin to really brighten up your complexion.

It's easy to apply with the brush applicator and easy to get product out of the tube with the clickable button at the bottom of the pen. It is super easy to blend out too, I use my ring finger or my Real Techniques Deluxe Crease brush to blend it into my skin. The colour range is great too, most foundations/concealers etc are too yellow toned for my pink undertoned skin so it's nice to use something that matches perfectly!

I'm not really sure if it is worth full price (£25) but if you are wanting splurged on a really good creamy, highlighter then I think this is a good one to go for! Also, if you can find it cheaper on places like ebay, I'd recommend you pick it up! But if you are just looking for a good pen highlighter than their are plenty of drugstore dupes like the Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer (£4.99).

What are your favourite highlighters? Have you tried this product?

Back To School Make Up Picks

August is flying by and it hit me a few days ago that I'll be starting a new college in less than a week! So I thought it'd  appropriate to show some my favourite make up picks for school, college, uni or work!

Don't feel like you need to use all these products, switch them out to what you want or just don't include what you don't want!

I kept all the products highstreet so it's all affordable and in a reasonable price range, but like I said feel free to switch out products.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Paint

One swipe!

I brought this product in one of my hauls a while a go and I've fallen in love with it! If you like bronzy shades (a bit like on-and-on bronze colour tattoo by Maybelline) than you will love this. It's got a shot of sliver shimmer through it which looks really nice on the lids, it's not too shimmery and it's not chucky at all. You can still see a faint shimmer on the lids though which looks beautiful.

I almost didn't buy this because I was worried that it would dry out my lids as I have sensitive lids but it doesn't dry them out at all. It is pretty creamy so it just applies to the lid effortlessly. I find it really easy to apply this all over lid in just a couple of swipes as it is incredibly pigmented. It is really easy to build up colour too, you can add a little bit and get a nice bronzy wash of colour or layer it on and get an intense bronze look. As it is a eye 'paint' it great to use as a base for other eyeshadows.

It has a spongey spatula like applicator that really picks up the product so you can do both eyes without having to 'reload'. I find it's not very good at getting product all over the lid as the applicator is quite thin but it still gets the job done.

It feels quite creamy when applied but it dries really quickly so you have to blend it out as soon as you apply, I use either the Base Shadow Brush or Deluxe Crease Brush by Real Techniques. It blends out really nicely too.

It claims to be waterproof, crease proof and to last all day. I haven't wore this while going swimming or anything so I'm yet to test if it is waterproof, but it is crease proof and it does last all day even on really hot, humid days.

I honestly love this and for only £3.99, you can't go wrong! There are few other shades I'd really like to get too!

Have you tried these eye paints? What's your favourite cream shadow?

Favourite Body Moisturisers

There is nothing I like more than a good body moisturiser since my skin gets pretty dry throughout the whole year but more so in the colder months (which is coming around pretty quickly!). So I thought I'd make a post of all my favourite body moisturisers that keep my skin feeling soft and just hydrated!

Soap & Glory Girligo Spray-On Body Moisturising Mist - £6.50
I love using this moisturiser when I'm too lazy to moisturise (bad of me, I know), I just spritz this all over my body and rub it in and I'm done.

It has the standard Soap & Glory scent, which I personally love and you can smell faintly on your skin all day which is nice if you are in a rush so you don't have to put on any perfume if you don't have time. It feels really light on the skin and sinks in super quickly, leaving my skin feeling hydrated and supple. The consistency is quite runny and thin.

If you're traveling or if you go swimming often then I think this is a great product to carry around in you bag (I believe you can get small, travel size ones of this!). I quite like the packaging too!

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Body Butter - £10.50
I was actually given this product from a friend for my birthday and honestly I'm glad she did! It has a really creamy texture and just applies to the body really nicely. It smells exactly like Girligo (the traditional S&G scent) and its consistency is fairly thick. It takes a bit longer to sink into the skin(compared to Girligo), but it still sinks in fairly fast (compared to most body butters).

It leaves my skin feeling amazingly soft and smooth, I've also noticed that it's improved the texture of my skin which is amazing! I love the packaging and it's lasted me ages, I've still got half left and I got this in February! A little bit goes a long way with this product!

I really love to use this on my elbows, feet and and knees especially, if they look a bit dry and it helps plump up my skin and prevent any more dryness. It makes your legs feel super amazing after you've shaved too for extra smooth and shiny legs!

The Body Shop Body Butter in Strawberry - £13.00
This is the moisturiser I like to use to treat myself or on the weekend just to really hydrate my skin. Firstly, it smells incredible, if you like the smell of strawberries or just any sweet scent you are going to love this! I think it smells even nicer when applied to the body and it lasts on the skin for a good while.

It melts into the skin beautifully and doesn't leave a white cast on the skin which is nice considering this is a pretty thick body butter. The consistency feels thick and in the tub it quite solid and hard (compared to The Righteous Butter) but saying that it is easy to apply and easy to get the product out of the tub.

One thing I would say as it is quite rich, it takes a little longer to sink in the skin but the results after are amazing and your body will feel incredibly soft and supple. If you get dry feet, elbows or knees then pop some of this on before you go to bed and in the morning your skin will feel really hydrated! It's a bit pricey but so worth it!

What is your favourite body moisturiser? Are you lazy like me when it comes to moisturising?

No7 Lash Adapt Mascara

I'm not really one to try out new mascara as I'm happy with my other mascaras, but I was going through some of the make up that I don't use very often and I saw this and decided why not give it a try?

The idea of this mascara is that you can have up to 6 coats of mascara without it clumping, so you can change day lashes (1-3 coats) to evening lashes (3-6 coats) with no clumps!
(2 coats on the top, 1 coat on the bottom & my lashes have been curled.)

I'm really impressed with mascara as it really defines my lashes, gives it reasonably length and gives it really good volume! It's really good at separating and coating each lash with mascara too! I find that it doesn't weigh down my lashes as the formula isn't thick, which makes it easy to work with and easy get the look I want. I usually use 1 - 3 coats and it gives a really nice natural look to the lashes.

The wand is quite big which throws me off a bit but it gets the job done! Also, after 4 coats my lashes personally start to resemble spider legs which I don't really like but at least with this mascara I can kind of 'prevent' that unlike some mascara I've tried that just give you instant spider leg lashes!

The mascara contains Jojoba oil so your lashes don't feel brittle or dried out after which I really like and it is really easy to remove even after 4 - 6 coats. I use L'Oreal Micellar Solution to remove the mascara from my eyes.

It's available at Boots for £12.95, which is pretty pricey but with the amount of No7 offers you get, you could probably get it for about £7.95!

What are your favourite mascaras? Let me know!

Mini Boots & River Island Haul

I know what you are thinking, Lucy another haul, really? I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself when I went into town! I only picked up three things which is quite restrained for me haha!

Toni & Guy Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray 75ml (£2.69)
After I wash my hair, it becomes extremely smooth and impossible to style (especially curling as my curls just drop out)! So I love to just spritz this all over my hair when it's dry to give my hair a bit of grip. It's great at just giving a nice beachy wave in your hair and the smell reminds me of the beach. I really like the packaging too!

Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie (£7.99)
Surprisingy, I've never tried a Lip Butter just because I never know what to shade to get, there is so much choice I just get a bit overwhelmed! After watching a video from Estée, where she was showing her favourite highstreet lipsticks and she said Raspberry Pie was one of her favourite shades from these lipsticks so I picked it up!

It's a beautiful dark raspberry shade with purple undertones. It makes a good bold lip without being too bright of a lipstick! It's amazingly pigmented, just one layer of this on my lips gives enough colour! It has incredible colour payoff, it's defiantly not a sheer wash of colour as I thought it would be.

Gold Tone Triangle Finger Top Midi Ring (£2.00)
I've always wanted a midi ring, but I struggle to find any where I live! But I popped into River Island, saw this and brought it immediately! I love the look of these rings they look good on all my outfits and just add a little something!

Have you tried any of these products? What have you brought recently? Let me know!

L'Oreal Triple Active Ultra-Hydrating Gel-Cream

L'Oreal Triple Active Ultra-Hydrating Gel-Cream for Normal to Combination skin (Boots / Superdrug)

I've been in the hunt for a good moisturiser for a while since the moisturiser I was using just wasn't cutting it for me. After searching the Boots website for a good hour, I came across this product and I just couldn't wait to give it a try! I brought mine from Boots and it was only £4.66, normally it costs £6.99!

What I love about this moisturiser is that there is one for every skin type, oily, dry or normal/combination. I picked the normal/combination one for my skin as my skin is fairly normal but I get the odd dry patch around my nose and eyes.

I apply this in the morning after washing my face and it leaves my skin feeling really fresh and hydrated without feeling heavy. It has a light, fresh clean smell which is nice in the morning because it really wakes me up! This moisturiser doesn't feel greasy after use and it sinks into the skin very quickly so I can apply make up straight after if I'm in a rush.  The texture of this product feels really nice, it feels like gel which keeps my skin feeling fresh and I find it easily to apply but it hydrates really well like a cream.

The packaging feels very luxurious because the pot itself is made out of glass and comes in a little box. It also comes with an extra lid (like the pigment presses you get in the L'Oreal  infallible eyeshadows) so it stops the product from getting on the lid and just making a mess.

One thing I would say is that it claims to tone you skin, but I don't feel like it really does that. It also wouldn't be suitable to travel with as it's quite big and takes up a lot of room in my wash bag. Other than that it's an amazing product and I will be defiantly repurchasing this in the future! As it's doing wonders to my skin!

Have you tried this moisturiser? What's your favourite moisturiser? Let me know!

Friday Favourite

I've been reading Laura's Friday Favourties for a while now and I thought I'd do my own, so this week I've been loving my Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer (in ivory - £5.49). I've not been sleeping very well recently so you can probably imagine the dark circles under my eyes and my eyes have been really irritated and dry too! So, I've found myself just reaching for this concealer more than any other concealer I have in my make up collection this week (it was also in my July Favourites).

Most concealers in my collection are too drying for my eyes but not this one, it is nice and hydrating so I don't find my eyes get irritated or that my dryness gets worse for using this. It's amazing at covering my dark circles and just brightening up my under eye area which is exactly what I need!

The concealer is really creamy and easy to blend (I use a Real Techniques Deluxe Crease brush). I found that if set with a powder it stays put for pretty much the whole day, It doesn't go cakey either! I really like the doe foot applicator too because it packs on enough to product to swipe under both eyes without having to put the applicator back in for more.

It's honestly one of my favourite highstreet concealers and it has been an essential in my everyday make up! I'd highly recommend it to any one who needs a effective yet affordable concealer!

Have you tried this concealer? What concealer do you use everyday? Let me know!

Thursday, 8 August 2013

I've been a bit stuck for post idea so I thought I'd to a NOTD! Today I'm wearing quite an usual colour for me, but it's Avon Nialwear Pro+ in Mandarin Magic (£6.00 but now £3.00!)

I've had this in my collection for a while but just never wore it because I was a little unsure on the colour! It's a beautiful orange colour with a gold/yellow flecks which is really different from most orange nail polishes I've seen!

It's quite thin but really easy to build up in 2-3 coat and it drys fairly quickly (which is great because I'm really impatient when it comes to nails!). What I really liked about this polish is that the fleck of gold/yellow doesn't feel chucky or make my nails have a weird texture, my nails feel smooth as if I'm using a normal solid colour polish.

The brush on this polish is really nice, it's easy to apply the polish all over the nail in one swipe! I found that brush hairs don't fall out or get bent when putting it back in the polish.

It's chipped slightly at the edge of my nail a few hours after I applied but I didn't use a top coat, so it may be a good idea to apply a good top coat!

I probably won't repurchase this polish, but I will definitely be looking at the different colours in this collection!

What colour are you wearing your nails? What's your favourite polish? Let me know!

Dove Hair Therapy Intensive Repair Mask

Sorry for the late post but I had some issues with my blog and I wanted to get them sorted out before I posted anything!

Due to the fact that I straighten/curl my hair pretty much all the time my hair gets pretty dry and in the summer it gets a little fizzy at the ends, so I'm always looking for a good hair mask to keep my hair in check. As this product was only £1.97 in Superdrug I thought I'd pick it up!

The product itself is really creamy but lightweight so it's easy to apply to the hair without feeling likes it's too much. Also, I like that you can almost see the oils within the cream, so you know it's going to be very moisturising! It's also in a huge tub so I won't be running out of this anytime soon!

I really impressed with the way this products left my hair feeling after I washed my hair. My hair feel super soft, it looked shiny and really healthy without weighing my hair down (which is great considering I have fine hair!). I also noticed that my split ends looked less visible and that the ends are less fizzy.

The directions on the back wasn't very clear, so all I did was wash my hair with shampoo and condition as normal (I used the Dove Heat Defence Shampoo and then a small amount of the Tresemme Salon Silk Conditioner), then I scooped out a good amount of the mask with my fingers and applied it all over my hair, waited about 4 minutes and rinsed it out. I blow dried my hair as usual and after that my hair was feeling amazing and looking really healthy.

I'd really recommend this product to anyone who has really dry hair, split ends or just wants a really effective but cheap hair mask. I think I might like this more than my Charles Worthington Moisture Seal Intense Rescue Melting Balm! I will definitely be repurchasing this in the future.

What's your favourite hair mask? Have you tried this product? Let me know!

Boots, Superdrug & Accessorize Haul

Sorry for lack of posts over the last 3 days, but on the weekend I was at a wedding! Anyway, I popped into some of the highstreet stores to find a moisturiser and this is the result!

Since I got my hair cut I want to keep my hair as healthy as possible so I thought I'd pick this up! I've heard very good things about this mask and decided to pick it up as it's only £1.97 in Superdrug right now! I'm a little unsure on the scent but the product itself is very creamy and soft, not greasy! The tub is huge too so it's defiantly a good buy!

I think anyone in the beauty community knows about this little gem. In Superdrug now it's £3.99 so I thought I'd get a new one while it's a bit cheaper. It's a holy grail product for me, this is the only concealer that can really cover up any blemishes and redness on my face!

I did a little research on this it seems like a really great moisturiser! There is one for every skin type which is really nice for those who have trouble looking for a moisturiser that suits their skin. It's meant to hydrate, tone and refresh the skin, so I'm very excited to try this out and see what it does for my skin!

I picked this up next as I've never tried any Burt's Bees as I've loved my Nivea Lip Butter. I got the scent Honey as all the other ones had been touched and opened. Not my favourite scent but I love how it really keeps my lips moisturised for a really long time!

I love the dry shampoo by Batiste but I always have a hard try making sure I have no white powder left in my hair so when I saw this I thought I'd give it a go! I really like the packaging too and right now in Boots £2.99!

I've seen a lot of blog reviews on these eye paints and I couldn't resist Rich Russet. It's a beautiful bronze shade (reminds me a lot of On-and-On Bronze by Maybelline). It has nice spongy applicator and is extremely pigmented! I think it'll be a good base for a smokey eye (or just a smokey eye on it's own!)
This was actually given to me by a family member and I'm a little hit and miss with this product! It's a moisturising balm (even though I'd say it's a lip gloss!) with SPF 15. I love the colour, it's a pinky orange, and glossy-ness it gives to my lips but it feels a little heavy on! I need to wear it more before I can say if I really like it or not.
As you can see this is just a sample size, but oh wow, this products smells amazing! Not sure if it's just my shade but Candy smells incredible, it's very sweet and has a candy scent (as the name implies). It's super glossy and pigmented, good enough to wear it's own, not sticky either!
I've never tried a eyebrow pencil before as I'm a bit of a powder girl myself, but I was in Boots and saw this. It had great reviews and a brush on the cap which is handy since my brow brush broke! It's a good suit for my brow hair colour (001 dark brown) and really affordable!

This was a bit of a impulse buy, I saw that it was only £3.00 and just went for it. I don't actually know where you can buy this necklace online but check in your boots store to see if there is one there! It's just a simple necklace that I thought would be nice to add to any pieces I'm wearing.

If you know me, me buying something like this isn't really a surprise considering that I love foxes! Once again a weird impulse buy but they are really good quality and let's face it, pretty darn adorable haha!

What have you brought recently? Have you tried any of these products? Let me know!
